Visiting my husband in Joplin, Missouri for the second time after the tornado that came through town at 204 miles per hour. Fema and Steve have been here for quite a while so I fly in to give him some "home away from home" time. It can be very boring sitting in a hotel room while he works so I try to always have daytime plans that keep me occupied until he gets back.
Picking is one of my favorite activities for my birdhouse decorations and I have been driving into small and larger areas gathering "treasures" to mount on the houses when I get home. It's amazing that Seattle is snowed in and I'm getting in the 60's here with an occasional dip into freezing but no snow! On Friday, I cooked in the hotel room a dinner for eight of us. People working with my husband had also worked on the Extreme Makeover's last show to build seven homes in seven days. The show was watched like the Superbowl here and people were crying, cheering and were so touched by the volunteers that reached out and showed the community that they cared. I was glad my husband had the opportunity to do this and later, the 10 homes built by Habitat for Humanity.
I have included pictures of the homes that were built and a few weird looking ducks that I came across on a walk in a Springfield Park. Wish I knew what they were as I tend to know birds but not ducks!
